This science fiction novella is a fun space adventure that you can knock out in an hour or two. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves space opera or is looking to dip their toes into the sci-fi genre!
Murderbot is a lovable construct (half-bot, half-human) who is owned by a security company and is leased out to a group of scientists / explorers who are investigating a new planet…when everything goes wrong.
The point of view of a construct gives a very interesting color to the story. Murderbot has a very math-ish view of the world, and doesn’t take for granted some things that humans do, but at the same time, Murderbot has deep emotions and is a blast to read about.
Content:
Sexual: PG-13. Sex / intimate relations are mentioned but never shown. The book takes place in a society where polyamorous relationships are the norm.
Language: PG-13 for this story. There might be a handful of the stronger swear words, but it isn’t gratuitous and is confined to a few sections of the story. Later in the series, some of the books have a lot more F bombs thrown around.
Violence: PG-13 for the first book, a low R for the entire series. It’s not particularly gratuitous, but there is a lot of violence and there are a few instances where it borders on gory.
